The president of the Special Commission for insularity Michele Cossa and Senator Emilio Floris (Fi) met today the President of the Senate Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, thanking her for the unanimous approval of the provision on insularity, the first time this happens in history of Italy. They then discussed the complex process of the procedure, which will now have to face the second parliamentary passage to the Chamber.

The meeting was also attended by senators Lina Lunesu (Lega) and Emiliano Fenu (M5s), Massimo Fantola and Maria Antonietta Mongiu and Rita Dedola (of the Scientific Committee of the Committee for Insularity).

The representatives of Sardinia, in highlighting the importance and strategic nature of the initiative, expressed the wish to find the utmost attention and the full support of the Chambers during the parliamentary double reading, united in a concrete commitment on timing, necessary so that the proposal becomes law.

From the President of the Senate words of appreciation for the initiative, combined with a wish addressed to Sardinia and all Sardinians.

"Disadvantaged territories such as the islands must be able to fully count on the support of Europe - said Cossa - but this means above all removing obstacles to development and creating effective conditions of equal opportunities in competition".
