According to Istat , inflation slowed sharply in June but for those who shop every day, the bloodletting continues and concerns milk, eggs, meat, bread, flour, fruit and vegetables. In short , basic necessities , with few exceptions, are increasingly expensive.

And these days , the protests of consumer associations are also back in Sardinia, convinced that behind everything there are speculative games played out to the detriment of families' pockets.

A few examples: sugar, in just one year, saw its price rise by over 46%; a kilo of rice costs almost a third more than in June last year, while to take home a bottle of olive oil or a kilo of potatoes costs about 26% more.

These numbers, combined with pending salaries and skyrocketing mortgages, create "an explosive combination that has demolished the purchasing power of Sardinians," comments Eliana Cara, number one at Federconsumatori Sardegna.
