Learning the art of launeddas making at school. This is the educational project launched for the first time this year by the Villaputzu-Muravera-San Vito Comprehensive School. The initiative, promoted by Headmaster Carla Atzeni, aims to enhance the local cultural roots and offer students an educational experience that combines knowledge, identity, and creativity.

Leading the workshop is Fabio Vargiolu, a physical education teacher and launeddas master (a student of Luigi Lai, the greatest living launeddas player). "Labneddas," the school emphasizes in a statement, "aims to raise awareness among younger generations about the importance of tradition and connection to the local area, offering them the opportunity to experience a hands-on, immersive experience: making launeddas with their own hands, from carefully selecting the natural reeds to crafting them and finally creating the complete instrument."

Labneddas will consist of three modules, each dedicated to a different school within the Comprehensive Institute, lasting approximately two months for each group and comprising a total of sixteen hours of activities. Classes will begin with an introductory session on the history and function of launeddas in Sardinian culture, followed by practical exercises and construction workshops.
