The number of artisans operating in Sardinia is growing: 34,350 , representing 20.1% of all Sardinian businesses .

On the island, the over 80 thousand workers who work in artisan businesses represent 20.7% of the total number of people employed in the area. In particular, 42.2% of extensive manufacturing workers, 57.2% of construction workers and 11.8% of service workers work in Sardinian craftsmanship. Numbers which, according to data processed by the Research Office of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna, place the island in second place in Italy for growth in this sector with +1.13% compared to 2022 and a balance of +387 companies, the result of the 2,072 new openings and 1,685 closures.

At a territorial level, the most representative area is the north with 12,673 registered artisan businesses , a growth rate of 1.23% compared to 2022 (eighth place nationally) and a balance of +115 businesses, given by the 804 registrations and the 649 cancellations. In second place Cagliari with 7,257 registered companies, with a growth of 1.36% (sixth in Italy) compared to 2022 and a balance of +99 units given by 468 registrations and 369 terminations. South Sardinia is third with 6,107 companies and a growth of 0.99% (15th place nationally), a balance of 61 companies given by 371 registrations and 310 cancellations. Nuoro follows with 5,582 companies, a growth of 1.09% (11th place) and a balance of +60 given by 306 openings and 246 closures. Oristano closes with 2,731 companies, a growth of 0.44% (37th in Italy), and a balance of +12 given by 123 registrations and 111 closures.

«This important growth of artisan businesses is one of the tangible results of 5 years of work and serious, and even tough, discussions on the part of Confartigianato with the Region to refinance the artisan law 949 with 80 million euros, and to bring the non-repayable fund from 10 to 40% - say Fabio Mereu and Daniele Serra , President and Secretary of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna - Throughout this time we have always been on the side of the artisans, their employees and their families".
