In Sardinia, energy costs 68.2% more than in 2021, before the war in Ukraine started.

This is revealed by the dossier on "Energy prices: from import to distribution" produced by the Study Office of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna.

«There is a paradox in our country – explain Maria Amelia Lai and Daniele Serra, President and Secretary of the association – the different trend between energy import prices and electricity and gas costs for households and businesses. Even in this phase of falling import prices, our companies on the island still pay 68.2% more than the 2021 average. A situation that the Government must change”.
Among the Sardinian provinces we find Olbia-Tempio with +65.1%, Cagliari with +61.1% and Sassari with +59.7%, the remaining ones that have not been registered. And on the island things are better than in other parts of the nation, if we consider that Sardinia is third last for the increase in consumer prices compared to the 2021 average: only Veneto (+65.3%) and Basilicata (+53.7% ) are doing better, while in the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano costs have risen by over 120%.

Italy is penalized compared to its European competitors, where the differential stops at +43.4%.
«Sardinian businesses and households - conclude Lai and Serra - although in a favorable situation compared to the rest of the country, are discounted by more than 25 percentage points more than the EU average. A situation that amplifies the competitiveness gap that exploded in the acute phase of the energy crisis. Once again the extraordinary efficiency that the artisan entrepreneurs of Isola reach inside their laboratories is shattered by the external inefficiency. This time it's not about roads but about an even more important infrastructure, energy».
