The Museum dedicated to the artist Liliana Cano, who has been an honorary citizen of Ittiri since 2011, will be inaugurated on Saturday 15 July. The Archbishop of Sassari Gian Franco Saba , the mayor of Ittiri Antonio Sau , Father Francesco Sechi, the president of the Fondazione di Sardegna Giacomo Spissu , the Councilor for Culture Baingio Cuccu and the art historian Mariolina Cosseddu will take part in the day.

For the occasion, the exhibition was set up with the two series dedicated to St. Francis : "The legacy of St. Francis" and "Chromatic symphony to St. Francis". The exhibition consists of 30 works which occupies the three rooms of the museum spaces . «The project of the Museum dedicated to Liliana Cano - the promoters say - stems from an idea born several years ago and which will materialize with the inauguration of the structure . This idea was born from the meeting between father Francesco Sechi and the painter Liliana Cano who, bound by a deep friendship, feel the need to leave society a contribution of the Christian vision through the religious-themed works created during his artistic life. For the realization of the project, the painter donated a large body of works that form the Museum's permanent collection which allowed the birth of the same Foundation that manages all the non-profit Museum's activities».

«The Museum's permanent collection - the promoters continue - is made up of about 90 works , donated by the painter, with mostly religious themes even if the Museum's mission has other objectives, including the creation of programs in which other works can be housed of the painter but also works and exhibitions of other contemporary artists who practice different languages. This activity has as its purpose the inclusion of the Museum in the tourist and cultural promotion circuits, reviving all the channels that are activated from time to time according to need. Specifically, synergies will be activated with similar realities (museums, itineraries for visits to sites of artistic and cultural significance as well as landscape) and will be in constant contact with similar research and documentation centers, with the aim of preserving the culture and tradition of Sardinia».
