Lollobrigida's train, Sgarbi's paintings, Sangiuliano's books, Pozzolo's New Year's Eve. And then she, Giorgia Meloni, and the path that brought her to the top of Italian politics. “The disaster: chronicle of a government of runaways” right from the title makes it clear, for those who don't know, which side Andrea Scanzi, the leading writer of Fatto Quotidiano, is on, arriving on May 26th at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari with a monologue in line with his articles, his social videos, his comments on TV.

«When things are evident you need to be clear. There are too many soft, timid, meek journalists in the face of this horrible government, albeit democratically elected."

In his show he talks about a haughty climate.

«Not all, it's clear, and then I hate generalizations. I'm actually thinking of the television system, almost all of Rai, all of Mediaset except for Bianca Berlinguer. But even newspapers considered anti-government such as Corriere della Sera and La Stampa: to me they don't seem to be on the barricades. I imagine a sixty-year-old who only watches Rai: he thinks that Giorgia Meloni is Margaret Thatcher or Winston Churchill."

Political monologue.

«It's political satire, the show makes you smile between information and denunciation».

How is it structured?

«One hundred minutes in total: in the first five I talk to the public and talk about the local reality».

And what is the reality of Cagliari like?

"You have to tell me."

We know it but, you who have to tell us about it, how do you see it?

«Now we are voting for the mayor's election. The outgoing one made a disaster and it showed at the Regionals, so the center-left has the match point. And in any case, the Sardinian example is the way."

In truth, in Abruzzo and Basilicata the broad camp was defeated by the centre-right.

«Given that each region is different, in Sardinia it worked for two reasons. The first: the candidate was convincing and strong, but in Abruzzo and Basilicata she was not."

Are you saying this because Todde got 40,000 more votes than the lists?

"Exact. The second reason: a wide field was created without Calenda and Renzi."

But right now in Cagliari Calenda will support Massimo Zedda in the municipal elections.

«Massimo Zedda is so credible that he could also include Calenda. At a national level I don't see a coalition with Calenda, Renzi, Schlein and Conte as possible since Calenda's objective is to destroy the Five Star Movement."

How does the show continue after starting in Cagliari?

«With Giorgia Meloni: how she became prime minister, her most famous speeches, news».

Nothing about Vannacci?

«In the central part there is a zoom in on some names, including the general. His candidacy for the European elections doesn't surprise me but it has nothing to do with the old League and is proof that Salvini is politically at the mercy of the gas, even if Vannacci will have great electoral success."

Are you also talking about ministers?

«I focus above all on them. The final part, however, is a sort of "what do we do now"? And there I make fun of both the center-left and the center-right."

Journalism, politics, theatre: is this the new frontier of information?

«Yes, I've been doing it for 14 years, I don't just feel like a journalist, I'm also an author, writer and theatrical performer. I do 50/60 dates a year and it's not just politics but also music, with Gaber, De André, Pink Floyd."

But why are journalists' monologues successful?

"Not always".

Yes, of course, you have to know how to do them. But why do people fill theaters?

“People feel alone and want to hear something they would like to be told or heard from politicians.”

Do they feel like a community?

«They want to take selfies, talk, touch. The collapse in voter turnout is dramatic but the first 5 dates of my tour are sold out."

So?

"They are disillusioned, not careless."
