Visit to Barumini by Luisella Pavan-Woolfe , director of the Italian Office of the Council of Europe. The stops were those of Su Nuraxi, Casa Zapata and the Lilliu Center.

“The Council of Europe has always considered cultural heritage as an important element from the point of view of identity and as an element of democracy. - said the representative - We look at heritage and culture as fundamental human rights in the same way as civil, political, social and economic rights. Seeing the cyclopean walls of Su Nuraxi, but also the extremely elegant artifacts of the Barumini sites is a strong emotion and tells us that we Europeans have a foundation of tradition and civilization that is unparalleled in the world ".

Pavan-Woolfe, who was together with Roberta Alberotanza , curator of the exhibition "Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe" and exponent of the Foreign Ministry, met the mayor of Barumini, Michele Zucca, and the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation represented for the occasion by Salvatore Bellisai, chairman of the Board of Directors. A moment of sharing the experiences of the Foundation in the management of the cultural heritage of the territory with its Unesco site Su Nuraxi, but also an opportunity to talk about the actions that are being developed on the side of the conservation of the archaeological and cultural heritage of Barumini combined with policies tourism and territorial development.

Alberotanza wanted to review with emotion the Unesco recognition plaque that she herself had helped to install, 20 years after its affixing. "This is the only plaque among the 58 Italian sites, but also worldwide that has 4 languages instead of the three normal ones - he says - the site of Su Nuraxi is extraordinary and here you can relive the energy of the earth and these monuments. L the work of the local community is to make it develop and known to the world ".
