Continue to improve the capacity in the reservoirs of Sardinia.

The Basin Authority, in the event of a request from the interested parties, is ready to give the green light to a new integration of the pre-assignments of water volumes in order to have more resources.

"The latest rains, and those expected in these days, allow us to breathe a further sigh of relief, averting the summer drought that would have brought the agricultural and livestock sector to its knees and ensuring drinking water reserves for the populations", explained the Councilor for Public Works, Aldo Salaris. Having monitored the situation in April, with particular regard to some areas considered critical, the integration of water for the countryside could already take place with the resolution of the Institutional Committee at the beginning of May.

"We have activated a monitoring that allows us to keep the situation under control in a constant and precise manner and, in the event of a critical situation, to implement the appropriate corrective measures. the Region, has allowed an optimal management of the present resource with important additions already activated and useful to meet the needs of the irrigation sector and others in the program - explains Salaris - more water available means more resources for the countryside and even for those lands up to today uncultivated precisely due to the lack of irrigation quotas to be allocated to certain territories ".

In detail, adds the Region, "the ongoing and expected perturbations will make it possible to flood the Bau Muggeris dam (Villagrande Strisaili) managed by ENEL, up to almost the maximum reservoir (today it contains 52 Mm3 compared to a maximum regulation volume equal to 56.6 Mmc). A positive situation that directly affects the Ogliastra Reclamation Consortium and therefore could apply for integration. Although the volume in the reservoir of the medium Flumendosa is limited due to the effect of the static lamination plan, the reservoirs of the Flumendosa-Campidano system already have a volume of 578 Mmc equal to 90% of the useful regulation volume. In these conditions, the system, in the event of a request to increase the irrigated area, could provide, accepting a low risk on the next irrigation season and zero for drinking water, 20/25 Mmc in addition to the pre-assignment of 136 Mmc already assigned to the Consortium of Reclamation of southern Sardinia. The situation is also very good in Sulcis, always under the responsibility of the Consortium of Reclamation of Southern Sardinia, which, again for the purposes related to the greater demand attributable to the difficult international situation of the moment, could rise from the current 10 Mmc pre-assigned to 12 / 13 ".

The Regional Agency of the hydrographic district of Sardinia (Adis) “will therefore continue with the monitoring activity, with particular reference to the two situations considered critical. In fact, in the reservoir of the Rio Mannu di Pattada in Monte Lerno there was only a modest increase in the volume of the container, which went from the value of 23.46 Mmc on 1 February to 24.97 Mmc on 1 April, corresponding to 73% of the authorized capacity. The scarce resources available in the Monte Lerno reservoir made it appropriate to confirm, prudently, for the irrigation area of the Piana di Chilivani, managed by the Northern Sardinia Reclamation Consortium, the pre-assignment without any integration. In the Bidighinzu reservoir there was practically no increase in the potted volume, always passing in the same period from the value of 4.53 Mmc to 4.82 Mmc corresponding to 44% of the maximum capacity: hence the choice not to pre-assign with the last approved resolution the water resources for the irrigation area of the Valle dei Giunchi, managed by Enas, as already established in February ".
