A significant recognition for the third work by Bonifacio Angius: “I Giganti” won the “Elio Petri” award awarded during the XX edition of the Porretta Terme Film Festival.

The Sassari artist commented: “Just thinking that an award named after Petri is dedicated to my work makes my legs tremble. He is a gigantic author, father of a cinema that no one would have the courage to stage today. In my small way, for the love of the teacher, I try again ”.

The Award, organized by the Porretta Cinema Association, for the third year goes to films that have distinguished themselves for the issues of social and political denunciation.

Last year, the Petri Prize went to "I wanted to hide" by Giorgio Rights on an equal footing with "Hammamet" by Gianni Amelio, and in the first edition (2019) the winner was Marco Bellocchio with "The traitor".

The notice board of “The Giants” already contains the two awards won at the French festival of Annecy: best director and young jury. Furthermore, the film was selected a few months ago for the Locarno Film Festival and was among the films in the running to represent Italy in the selection for the Oscar for best foreign film.
