The three-year program of interventions for the production of hydroelectric energy is underway, with the aim of creating new plants and redeveloping the works of the Regional Multisectoral Water System (Simr).

The plan with which the resources for the design were allocated (4 million euros) was approved by the Regional Council just over a month ago and is reflected in the agreements already stipulated with the Water and Hydrogeological Works Service, responsible for managing the activities relating to relations with the Sardinia Water Authority and with the other bodies implementing regional sector programs, such as that relating to hydroelectricity.

Tenders will soon be published to identify the designers who will have the task of preparing the technical and economic feasibility project for the works already identified as suitable and in line with the philosophy of the project.

"The goal is to free the multisectoral water sector from the use of energy of fossil origin and to achieve the economic balance of the budget for the energy item", explained the Councilor for Public Works Aldo Salaris speaking of the need to optimize the use of potted water resources and reduce the energy costs incurred by the multisectoral water system.

"This is a very important challenge for a region like Sardinia and for the management of the water service in its entirety - he continued -. We are in a first phase, almost exploratory, which underlies the desire to develop self-production of energy. electricity from renewable sources, photovoltaic and hydroelectric. A green change that would allow us to make the leap in quality, protecting the environment and creating the conditions for stable and lasting development and growth ", he concluded.

The financial endowment identified with a resolution of the Executive will allow the start-up and development of the planning, including the acquisition of the necessary authorizations, opinions and clearances provided for by the regulations.

The company Opere e Infrastructure of Sardinia, Ois, has already moved in that direction, which has entered into an agreement to launch the feasibility study and design of 10 mini hydroelectric plants.

Enas, another implementing body, is also taking its first steps in that direction, engaged in the preliminary phase that will lead to the identification of the designers and then to the assignment of the designs.
