New performance for the Sardinian artist Nicola Mette . After "Novichok" in front of the Tomb of the Giants of Imbertighe in Borore, during which, dressed as a soldier, he burned the Russian flag, the artist continues with his investigation into the harsh reality of war.

Now he stages “PETRIFICADAS EMOZIÒNES – HOMINES CONTRA HOMINES” : a provocative look at the persistent violence in the contemporary world, a performance/action that explores the brutality of war and commemorates the victims of past and present conflicts.

In the center a doll filled with blood which is destroyed with a sledgehammer : «A raw look – explains Mette – on the brutality of war and which represents human suffering seen through emotional objectification». By wearing the military uniform during the performance, Mette «symbolizes the anonymity of the armed forces involved in conflicts. This calls attention to the deindividuation and dehumanization of individuals within military structures. The choice to wear the uniform accentuates the emotional distance and impersonality linked to war."

Nicola Mette draws inspiration from a long tradition of artists who have used art to address the horrors of war. Like Pablo Picasso, with his painting “Guernica”, which captured the horrors of the Spanish Civil War.

The performance shines a sharp light on the suffering inflicted by the conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza and all wars. An invitation to seriously reflect on the violence perpetuated by man against man in all its forms. A message of peace.
