The headquarters of the National Association of Combatants and Veterans, of Iglesias, are reborn with a large exhibition dedicated to the two great wars. A thousand testimonies from the war period of the last century were exhibited on the occasion of the days dedicated to open monuments, on the two floors of the historic headquarters of the former combatants in via Gramsci.

Uniforms, weapons, memorabilia, books and documents were made available to the many enthusiasts who, despite the inclement weather, wanted to visit the exhibition. The headquarters, a piece of Iglesiente history born in the 1920s, operated until the early 1980s, then slowly ceased operations until it was oblivious.

In recent weeks, the great will and the painstaking work of the fifty members of the Association has brought to light the testimonies collected over several decades. There are many articles on display that date back to the first years of the great war, collected and cataloged thanks to the great passion of the members.

"Our aim is to be able to revive the historic association of fighters, and make the exhibition permanent, which tells an important piece of the last century - says Carlo Cosseddu, 68, vice president of the Association - So far we can guarantee the opening but, in the future, we hope to have the resources to continue the business permanently, and above all we hope to be able to acquire new objects and historical documents ".

Many important pieces, which lay forgotten in the premises of the headquarters, were finally presented to the numerous visitors. Among the most important pieces we find some historical uniforms of the late nineteenth century, weapons and relics recovered in the trenches of northern Italy and in the African countryside, in addition to numerous documents, which tell the vicissitudes of the Iglesian soldiers who fought in the two world wars.
