The sword of Damocles of decline still hangs over us, but the regional government must move forward. There are measures and emergencies that cannot wait for the resolution of the legal case. Revenue disputes, the single sector, healthcare, air territorial continuity, and the 2026 Budget: these are the priorities for the fall.
By September, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti will summon Governor Alessandra Todde and Budget Councillor Giuseppe Meloni to discuss the biggest issue: the €1.7 billion loan the Region owes to the state.
This concerns the missing state transfers of tax co-payments: three hundred million a year, which ultimately more than quintupled. The discussion—as Meloni announced in recent days— will also have positive implications for the next regional budget. The law is ready, but many (on both sides) suspect that the financial coverage is insufficient.
Regarding healthcare, attention is focused on the local health authorities and university trusts. The commissioners chosen by the council (without the input of Democratic Party councilors) almost five months ago are expiring. Todde could discuss this as early as today in a face-to-face meeting with Silvio Lai, who will soon meet with the coordinators of the other Campo largo parties.
