Anatoly Frolov 's car literally exploded against the reinforced concrete barrier of a construction site on the Olbia-Nuoro highway. The high-speed crash occurred shortly before 4:00 a.m. yesterday , just a few dozen meters from one of the access lanes to the town of Budoni. The 34-year-old Ukrainian man, resident in Olbia , was traveling the wrong way on the 131 DCN highway, a mad dash in his Volkswagen Passat, with his 9-year-old son in the back seat . Anatoly Frolov was powerless to avoid the impact with the concrete barrier; the Ukrainian died instantly.
The front left section of the Passat disintegrated. The 9-year-old boy emerged unharmed from the wreckage at dawn, having survived the horrific crash. First responders reportedly located him in a state of shock near the remains of his father's car.
The very young patient was taken care of by 118 specialists and transferred to Olbia. Doctors at the John Paul II Emergency Room handed the child over to colleagues in the Pediatrics department.
