There have been better times for Paolo Truzzu. But yesterday the mayor of Cagliari – "sunk" in the Regional elections by his own city (as well as by the disjointed vote of the League, he rebuilt the Cattaneo institute) – did not give up on the City Council.

And he didn't even bother to save on elegance: blue suit, matching tie and white shirt. The inevitable glasses and cell phone in hand. No nearby crowds. No hugs, not even consolatory.

The conference of group leaders is convened at Palazzo Bacaredda. Truzzu asks what to do, given that he will occupy a seat in the Regional Council. As opposition leader. So he will have to abandon the tricolor band. The question posed by the mayor concerns timing. Truzzu will leave after the proclamation of those elected. In a month, after Easter, it has been agreed with all the parties. In any case, he won't send the city to the vote too early. The Cagliari municipal elections are however scheduled between May and June.
