"It would be very serious if the government intended to cancel the single family allowance, a universal instrument that has helped families a lot and that is much appreciated and for which the Democratic Party has fought hard and that it intends to defend. This is a sectarian government because when a measure, even if it works, does not bear their signature, they decide to distort it usually to put their flag on it. We will continue to defend this instrument also in the next maneuver".

This was stated by the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, regarding press rumors about the Meloni government's intention to cancel the single allowance.

However, these rumours were denied by both the Minister of Economy Giorgetti («a fantasy without any foundation») and by the Minister of Family Roccella («A sequel to the fake radio commentary on the landing of the Martians on Earth by Orson Welles»).

Clarifications that do not stop the opposition offensive, from the M5s to Italia Viva passing through Pd and Avs, who attack the government defined as "at the end of its tether on resources" and find themselves united on the objective of "saving the single allowance".
