"Antonio Gramsci's Words to Explain the World" is the title of the "Finding Words" festival, which last night in Gonnesa, in the S'Olivariu park, drew an attentive and interested audience. Explaining the words of the philosopher, politician, and journalist born in Ales was Gianni Fresu, professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Cagliari's Faculty of Political Science and director of the Gramsci Lab. He was in conversation with Ennio Meloni, president of the Radici e Ali association, which organizes the literary festival.
Gramsci's "Sardinianness" is in the spotlight. "The numerous studies on Gramsci don't really explain this aspect," said Gianni Fresu, "but in reality, the Sardinian question truly foreshadows the Southern question. From 1720 to 1847, land in Sardinia was privatized, and the civic uses previously granted to farmers and shepherds were abolished. Sardinia was the laboratory for what later happened with unification."
This year, Gramsci's essay "The Southern Question" turns one hundred years old. On the theme "Interpretation and Translatability a Century After the 1926 Essay," the Gramsci Lab has organized an international conference from September 23rd to 25th in the Maria Lai Hall of the Department of Political Science at the University of Cagliari.
