The awards ceremony for the competitions for the sections of the Alziator Prize dedicated to cinema and photography ended with a crowded gala hosted in the main hall of the Cinema Notorious in Piazza Unione Sarda.

Packed with prestigious guests, the evening, supported by the Sardinian Region, the Municipality of Cagliari and the Sardinia Foundation, was conducted by the patron of the organizing Foundation Maurizio Porcelli and, among other personalities, the Councilor for Culture of the capital Maria Dolores Picciau took part .

The seventh edition of the "Three Minutes of Celebrity in Cagliari" competition, after last year's success by Maria Fajri, saw the young Cagliari filmmaker Denise Pasquavaglio triumph, according to the verdict of the jury presided over by the Cagliari director Peter Marcias, with the short " Papilio” , a work greatly appreciated by all the audience and for which even one of the guests of the evening, the award-winning director and present in the major national and international festivals Giovanni Columbu, expressed enthusiastic praise given the technical quality and the directorial idea.

On the second step of the podium was Ivo Zedda with "Sonos" while third place was an old acquaintance of the competition, Roberto Casula, already winner of the 2020 edition and in the running for victory with the short "Tre Minuti" full of ideas and interesting that relied on the production team of previous years: the brilliant and intense interpretation of Giada Velia Tantino and the original music of the Cagliari singer-songwriter Alessandro Lilliu.

Special mention for Marcello Polastri author of a short in Cagliari dialect "Attitidu po Frantziscu Alziator", very much in theme with the philosophy of the competition.

Among the novelties of the sixteenth edition of the Alziator Prize, the debut of the photography section: the contest "Photographing Cagliari" met with great success among professionals and enthusiasts and the many shots that arrived at the Secretariat of the Prize put the Jury in difficulty due to the high artistic and technical value.

Even some prestigious brands took part in the competition which in the end saw a spectacular image stand out which amazed the public: the interpretation of the Poetto beach entitled "Cagliaritaneità" , dominated by houses, palaces and the Castello district, proposed by Giuseppe Ungari , photographer of L'Unione Sarda, offered an unusual and highly original vision of the Cagliari coast which amply deserved the gold medal.

The awards were presented by the photographer Franco Felce and the dean of Sardinian professionals Domenico Manca , a life spent as an official photographer of the Region who at the age of 94 continues with his great passion for photography by implementing his immense and very rich collection day after day of shots, some of which have been around the world. He was awarded the Alziator Lifetime Achievement Award for the extraordinary work accomplished in a life of work marked by enthusiasm and vitality always with the lens ready to immortalize moments of life and glimpses of Sardinia to remember and hand down to posterity.

In second place Giulio Casti while Giancarlo Esposito and Alberto Piso shared the third prize with two shots dedicated to the inhabitants of the Molentargius pond, much appreciated by Domenico Ruiu, one of the greatest nature photographers, who attended the event bringing his extraordinary fifty-year experience at the service of the most important publications in the sector and Sardinian and international publishing houses.

Special mentions also for Giulia Foresti, Maria Damiana Manunta, Franco Murru and Antonella Sanna.
