From the university booklet to that of songs to sing in a group, in front of the altar of a church, or in the middle of a square. They are the Carrales Choir, founded by Giuseppe Altea and Claudio Podda, in Cagliari.

A choir of 14 kids, for now, all students or former students; «but we accept all men up to 45, maximum 50 years old», says Altea, proud of his creation. Latest project "A choir, an island", with which they performed in the "Su Marmuri" cave in Ulassai, or in the dunes of Piscinas, publishing the video on YouTube.

«It all comes from the passion for music, from the desire to share it. An antidote to university stress, but also a way to feel united, bring your own identity, get to know others." And what music: «It can be a mix of Baronese, Logudorese, southern or northern singing, inspired by more classical or modern music. In Ulassai where we resumed the basis of "Perfect" taken by Soleandro and harmonized for male choir by me, with a text, "Sarvitri", which paid homage to the beauty of the place. We also work at the request of the municipal administrations to tell their beauties, and we have toured all of Sardinia including music videos and concerts".

A great organ where he learned to touch the heartstrings and push everyone's potential to the maximum, like a good teacher: «I follow the singers individually and in groups. Each has its own identity, but the sound must be that of Carrales. Round, never loud, particular. Among us there are kids from Ittiri, Cagliari, even Bergamo." A university student himself, before founding the choir in 2010, Altea graduated in Educational Sciences, and subsequently graduated and specialized at the Conservatory. «I also play the clarinet, I was part of several musical bands. But there is something special about the choir. Since I was little, I was enchanted by the children of the Antoniano choir, and then I was also part of it, for the Verdi Notes. You command the instrument and it carries out, while with people it's very different." The result is a group like a family: «Many already sang in church or in their local choir, or in any case music is part of their identity. And now some travel two hundred km to be at the tests. For me it is the greatest satisfaction."

Young people like Daniele Ledda, 31 years old, from Domus de Maria: «I joined the choir ten years ago», he says, «and I never miss it. Best memories? Having sung during the return of Saint Efisio, feeling the warmth of the people. And then the dinners, all together." The choir is always looking for new members: «You just need a little predisposition and a lot of passion».
