Chiara Obino from Cagliari set a new world record at the Italian Outdoor Freediving Championships, in the waters off the port of San Nicolò di Riva del Garda (Trento).

The Sardinian specialist set a new world record in the lake with a monofin, diving to a depth of 92 meters. She also won the competition and is the Italian champion.

This success adds to the many achieved in her long sporting career: Obino, an Italian freediver, is among the top five in the world to have reached 100 meters underwater. She has been awarded a gold medal for sporting merit by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). Her list of achievements includes eight Italian overall championships, a gold, a silver, and a bronze at the World Championships, three world records, and eight Italian records.

Another world record in Sardinia: Michele Usai, an athlete from the Apnea Club Cagliari, has set the new record for constant weight without equipment, reaching a depth of -67 meters.
