France narrowly beats Belgium (1-0) a few minutes before extra time and reaches the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.

Attacks still emerged for both teams, with Les Bleus only winning in the 85th minute thanks to an own goal by Vertonghen, who deflected a shot from Kolo Muani, putting Casteels irremediably out of the game.

Portugal, however, needed penalties to beat Slovenia 3-0. At Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt there were moments of amazement when in the last minute of extra time Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty, bursting into tears. Cr7 was then consoled by his teammates. Goalkeeper Diogo Costa was decisive for the result as he didn't miss a shot, saving shots from Ilicic, Balkovec and Verbic.
