Mbappé, Haaland, and Messi: the three champions did not disappoint in their debuts at the 2026 World Cup, currently being played in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

France beat Senegal 3-1 in their opening match, thanks to a brace from Mbappé. Norway had an easy ride, defeating Iraq 4-1, with Haaland scoring twice. Messi did even better, scoring a hat-trick in Argentina's 3-0 win over Algeria. Lionel thus tied Klose's goal record and became the first player to play in six World Cups.

The other matches played between Tuesday and Wednesday: 1-1 draw between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, 2-2 between Iran and New Zealand, 3-1 victory for Austria against Jordan.
