Forty years of Voices of Europe: registrations for the Festival are now open

Fortieth birthday for the international festival of polyphonic music Voices of Europe , born in Porto Torres in 1979 together with the unforgettable Don Antonio Sanna. From children's voices to polyphonic music of every era, passing through medieval songs up to the more pop harmonies.

A quality proposal largely already outlined by the Coro Polifonico Turritano association, organizer of the event which takes place under the artistic direction of Maestro Laura Lambroni, and which this year too will be completed with the selection of choirs that will apply for participate in the cultural event scheduled in Porto Torres and other towns in North-West Sardinia from 3 to 10 September 2023. Registration is open: the application form can be completed on the website www.vocideuropa.it by 31 July.

«The Voci d'Europa event was initially conceived to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the foundation of the Turritano Polyphonic Choir. It was supposed to be a one-off event, but after that experience the Festival began to enter people's hearts, becoming a fixed appointment», underlines the President Maria Maddalena Simile. «Voices of Europe is the longest running polyphonic music event in Sardinia and this is thanks to the perseverance of the members who have always worked for the Festival, to those institutions that have supported us, to the associations, sponsors and friends who have believed. Also this year the Festival will open its doors to vocal formations that intend to register their name among those participating, an option that we included two years ago to welcome those choirs that intend to tread our stage to experience a moment of sharing and comparison artistic".

The artistic direction is finalizing the details for the new edition, which will involve Porto Torres and other municipalities in the area with various appointments.

«We have already concluded contracts with four groups, two Italian and two from abroad, all with different repertoires and styles, embracing different genres and eras. One of the formations contacted is already known: it is the Neri per caso who will perform in Porto Torres on 10 September. For the third consecutive year – says the artistic director, Laura Lambroni – we are also open to all those musical realities who want to apply to participate to share an experience of growth».

In the online form, which can be filled in directly on the website, in the "Register for the next festival" section, the type of vocal training (mixed choir, male, female, children's voices), contacts and repertoire proposals are requested. The groups that will be chosen to participate in the festival will be able to count on discounts at structures affiliated with the organization.
