As of 31 December 2023, the number of foreign companies registered in the Business Register of the Chambers of Commerce is equal to 659,709, equal to 11% of companies in Italy.

Compared to December 2022 , the increase was 2%, a figure that consolidates the growing trend of the last five years (+7% compared to 2019).

In Sardinia there are almost 11 thousand, precisely 10,628, equal to 6.2% of the overall companies active on the island.

The regions where there are the most foreign companies are Liguria and Tuscany, where foreign-owned companies are 16% and 15.8% of the total respectively.

The data were processed by Unioncamere/InfoCamere as part of Futurae, the Migrant Business Programme, promoted by the Ministry of Labour.

«The contribution that comes to the Italian economy from foreign entrepreneurship is even more appreciated and necessary given the demographic trend of our country, a problem to which there is no solution in the short term », underlines the president of Unioncamere, Andrea Prete .
