Former AC Milan president Giuseppe Farina, the club's last owner before the Silvio Berlusconi era, has died at the age of 91. Born in Gambellara, in the province of Vicenza, in 1933, Farina led 12 clubs: Milan, Padova, Vicenza, Audace, Valdagno, Legnago, Schio, Rovigo, Belluno, Rovereto, Modena and Palù.
His most significant experiences in the world of sport were at Vicenza and Milan. At Vicenza he led the club to a historic second place in the championship in 1977-78, with Paolo Rossi, the hero of Spain '82, top scorer with 24 goals.
He subsequently bought Milan in January 1982 and at the end of the season the team ended up in Serie B. After the promotion to Serie A in the following year with Castagner on the bench, in 1986 Farina resigned from the role of president due to the precarious financial situation of the club, which was bought a few months later by Silvio Berlusconi who saved it from bankruptcy.
