" I'm very happy, I can't wait to start this adventure: see you soon ." These were Michael Folorunsho's first words at Elmas airport , before signing his contract with Cagliari: the official announcement came this afternoon, with the classic Rossoblu club statement. Having landed late yesterday evening on a flight from Rome Fiumicino (at 11:19 PM, twenty minutes earlier than scheduled), the midfielder was greeted by some fans who waited until around midnight, when the 1998-born player appeared at the arrivals gate . "I'm very excited and very motivated, I also spoke with the coach and some teammates," he added.

Folorunsho joined Cagliari from Napoli on loan with an option to buy, set at around €8 million. The deal was completed on Monday morning and then took a couple of days to complete additional bureaucratic formalities, which is normal when Aurelio De Laurentiis is involved. He becomes the second new face of Cagliari for the 2025-2026 season, following Gennaro Borrelli, and reunites with the Rossoblu he faced in the famous playoff final in June 2023 when he was at Bari.

Last season, Folorunsho split his time between Napoli and Fiorentina, without much success. He wasn't part of Antonio Conte's plans, so much so that he wasn't called up for the Neapolitans' training camp. For this reason, he didn't join the squad that remained in Austria after yesterday's 3-1 friendly loss to Galatasaray, and he won't take part in Saturday's test (2:00 PM) away to Hannover. He'll remain training at the Crai Sport Center in Assemini, where the rest of Fabio Pisacane's squad will meet next week.
