In the last year there has been an average increase of 67% in the average price of diesel.

A real sting for the fleet of Italian fishing boats forced to work at a loss or cut their outputs, all to the advantage of foreign fish imports.

The alarm was raised by Impresapesca Coldiretti, who explained that more than half of the costs incurred by fishing companies is represented by fuel.

With current revenues, most businesses fail to cover even energy costs, in addition to the other expenses expected to keep the business running.

"At this rate, going out to sea will not be economically sustainable - said Impresapesca - because without adequate measures to reduce the cost of fuel, boats will be forced to fish at a loss or even stay on the quay; this with serious repercussions on the supply chain and on the employment of 28 thousand workers in 12 thousand companies ".
