The Public Works Planning sector of Abbanoa today filed the definitive-executive project with the Sardinian Area Government Authority (Egas) on the investments of the PNRR funds destined for interventions to reduce losses in the water distribution networks, including the digitization and monitoring of networks.

The approval by Egas should arrive in a short time and will allow the tender to be announced before the summer so as to then start the construction sites.

The program with the maxi tender of 40 million euros involves the urban centers of 15 Municipalities: Nuoro, Olbia, Sassari, La Maddalena, San Teodoro, Porto Torres, Bosa, Siniscola, Cabras, Budoni, Selargius, Tempio Pausania, Terralba, Sestu and Sorso.

Abbanoa's work to improve efficiency and fight against water losses has already made it possible in recent years to increasingly reduce the amount of water withdrawn, treated and distributed: from the 272 million cubic meters introduced into the network in 2013, it went down to 219 million cubic meters in 2021 with a decrease of 53 million cubic meters in eight years. All this despite the increase in the number of users served: from 713,000 to 724,000 in the same period of time.
