September tourism in Sardinia dedicated to foreigners . This is what Federalberghi expects for the Sardinian summer final: little Italy, a lot of international traffic. With some signs of recovery from the hotels : a few more, after the less of July and August.

«Reservations - explains Paolo Manca , regional president of Federalberghi - compared to last year are a few points better. July closed with a minus 15%, the provisional indications for August give us a range between -5% and -10% dominated by a last minute never seen before». And now September is upon us, with bookings continuing to attract foreigners – he continues – in particular Europeans who also have a new holiday window at the end of the month and for the first days of October».

A good turnover is expected, with tourists with a «medium-high spending capacity - adds Manca - who, finding particularly attractive prices even in the higher ranges, will allow the 4 and 5 star structures to continue their business up to the month of October".

Then the holiday industry will close almost completely: « At the end of September 70% of the structures will close this season , and the annual structures (about 15%) will remain open in October together with a part of the seasonal ones which will bring the accommodation capacity of the island between 30 and 35% of the total».

Good news also from booking in non-hotel facilities. «The data - explains Maurizio Battelli, historic president of the Extra association - are in line with those of last year in this period, therefore a good September is expected. October still very low in terms of bookings, but considering that they are all under dates, I also expect October to be as positive as last year. The problem will be how to overcome the hibernation period from October to next April ».

And there are also data on the trend of occupied positions. Cagliari, for example, will fill non-hotel facilities by half in the first half of September (49%), to then drop (but in the meantime other requests could arrive) in the last two weeks of the month (37%).

In Villasimius it ranges from 45% until mid-month to 30. Then Chia, 39% and 23%. The north is holding up well: Alghero first half 47%, second 26%. Olbia 35 and 18%, San Teodoro 46 and 25%, Orosei 49 and 26%.
