Farewell to Waldemar Victorino. For the former Cagliari player, in the 1982-83 season, brain death was declared yesterday afternoon following an attempted suicide. In the last period he was facing a moment of economic difficulties.

Confirmation of the death in Montevideo (where he had been hospitalized in intensive care) was given by Telemundo, Uruguayan TV, and by the Uruguayan football federation.

Victorino was 71 years old, played as a striker.

Cagliari also published a message of condolence on social media: “Cagliari Calcio mourns the passing of Waldemar Victorino, a pure talent of Uruguayan football. He played for the rossoblù only one season, that '82/'83, but managed to win the affection of all the fans in a short time. Hello, Waldemar”.
