Serious mourning in the world of Sardinian equestrian sports. Gianni Mura from Sassari died. He was the dean of the Endurance riders, born in 1948. Still active and capable of winning again, the last time a month ago in Arborea in the 100km open during the international Endurance festival. An indomitable knight, capable even of getting on the saddle with an arm or leg in plaster, Gianni Mura was a master for many riders and amazons who have ventured into cross-country competitions with the horse.

The Sassari knight had started late. At the age of 40 he started jumping obstacles then moved on to country horse riding, corss, then Trec and finally he was conquered by the discipline of endurance, endurance races where distances range from 30 km to 90km and also 120 km to do at a brisk pace along dirt paths, often through breathtaking landscapes, but always respecting the health of the horse, which is monitored several times by the vets during the race.

Pupils and students not only of the Endurance Team Sardinia remember him with words of affection and gratitude for what he taught, rightly calling him "teacher".
