The world of culture in mourning for the death of Dominique Lapierre.

The French writer and journalist (Paris Match correspondent for years) was 91 years old and since 2012 he had been in serious health conditions due to a fall.

His best-known novel, an international best seller from which a film was also made, is "The City of Joy", a profound and touching testimony to the living conditions in the slums of Calcutta, India , where Lapierre lived for years.

In his bibliography there are also other successful novels with a historical background, often in tandem with the American reporter Larry Collins , such as "Does Paris burn?" and “The Fifth Horseman”.
