Condolences from Sardinian artists for the death of Francesco Pilu .

«A friend of the Archives and our staff left us. Always available for his musical performances but above all off stage, with his human side that shined through in every encounter . A direct look and a kindness in the ways that have made him, as well as one of the most important and loved musicians of Sardinia, a person loved by practically everyone. His vocal and instrumental interpretations of the music of our tradition remain to us. Thanks Franzi!», they write from the Mario Cervo Archive in Olbia.

« Francesco Pilu is no longer here - writes Giuliano Marongiu on his Facebook page -. We thought and believed that the positive energy and kindness that characterized him could hold back, fight and win the race against the adverse fate that took him away. The squares danced with him , together with the Cordas et Cannas, and Sardinia, with them, knocked on the doors of the world, opening itself with enthusiasm and earning respect. Francesco and his traveling companions were the first to believe that the music of peoples could dialogue and build bridges of peace, justice, equality in the value of diversity, breaking down the walls of indifference, racism and war. The music world loses a special man and one of its great protagonists. We are sad and from today a little more alone».

Maria Luisa Congiu also joins the choir : «When I returned to Sardinia many years ago, I began a journey through the music, culture and history of this wonderful land. For music in particular I had firm points of reference, characteristic and warm voices that expressed passion for what they were doing, voices that never flaunted, on the contrary, respect and modesty in representing the roots characterized them. I then had the opportunity to meet some of these artists and had confirmation that greatness was also in humility, great people even before being great artists: Francesco Pilu is an example. Deep respect and admiration for the man and the artist who has left us today. I have touched this pain first hand and I am more than ever close to family members and "colleagues-Friends" ever. A sincere thank you to Francesco for everything he has bequeathed to the Music of Sardinia and beyond... I like to think that those who preceded you in that place suspended between Heaven and Heart are waiting for you with instruments to play and lots of music still to be done ».

«Master we will miss you so much - writes Maria Giovanna Cherchi -. Meeting your voice, enjoying your generous art, learning from you the freedom of music anchored in Sardinia. Thanks for what you taught us. Close to your family and those who loved you.
