The opera season of the de Carolis institution in Sassari opens with a courageous operation: the staging of a contemporary opera . Tomorrow at 8.30pm and Sunday at 6.30pm the Municipality of Sassari hosts the world premiere of Marco Tutino's opera in Italian entitled “False Betrayal” .
The staging is a formidable quartet, because in addition to the author and screenwriter of the libretto Luca Rossi , the direction has been entrusted to the Argentinian Hugo de Ana , a true living legend, and the orchestra of the Sassari institution will be conducted by Beatrice Venezi .
The cast includes Valentina Mastrangelo as Lola, Anna Pennisi (Elsa von Stahl), Dario Di Vietri (Gabriel Jensen), Murat Can Guvem (Helmut Schulze Rohr), Giorgio Caoduro (Arno von Stahl), Michael Zeni (Richard), Gianni Cossu (barman) and Tiziano Rosati Rufus Kropp.
The work is inspired by a real historical episode: the Kiel mutiny which involved the crews of the Imperial German Navy on 3 November 1918 , a spark of rebellion which would then spread throughout Germany and lead to the conclusion of the First World War and to the Weimar Republic.
The author Marco Tutino highlights the two themes: «The rebellion against the war wanted by the elites but not understood by the people and Lola's love for two men, a fact more unique than rare in melodrama».
