The Tempio Faber Festival is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. And it's doing so with a packed program. Kicking off tomorrow, the three-day event, curated by the Iskeliu Cultural Association with the moral patronage of the Fabrizio De André Foundation, will take place from August 19th to 24th, encompassing music, art, and nature. It will take place in places dear to Fabrizio De André, known to all as Faber.
Under the artistic direction of Sandro Fresi, the event, created as a tribute to the great Genoese singer-songwriter, who lived in Tempio Pausania by adoption, also boasts concerts, meetings, immersive itineraries, and food and wine events for 2025, all linked by the common thread of De André's work and thought.
We begin tomorrow with one of the most anticipated events in Piazza Gallura : the concert with the Zirichiltaggia group, which, starting at 10 pm, will explore some of the most intense and significant moments in Faber's musical output. Making the evening even more special is the extraordinary appearance of Ellade Bandini , De André's longtime drummer, who will bring the authentic soul of De André's songs to life with his percussion.
Wednesday (6:30 p.m.) features a special event with Dori Ghezzi , in the shadow of Renzo Piano's sails, a symbolic location of the Festival. She will talk about herself and "her Faber" in a conversation with writer Flavio Soriga . The event's musical backdrop will be provided by The Andre, a voice of cutting originality, one of the most surprising on the contemporary scene. Completing the day's program are a performance by virtuoso Gavino Loche , a Sardinian guitarist among the leading exponents of contemporary fingerpicking, and a performance by Frida Bollani Magon i, who comes to St. Peter's Square with "Semplicemente Frida in tour."
Sunday sees the poetic return of Paolo Angeli, one of the leading exponents of Sardinian musical experimentation. With his LEMA Tour, in the shade of the redwoods in the heart of Limbara, he will immerse audiences in strings, echoes, and visions. The show is scheduled for 4 pm in Vallicciola.
This year's new additions include two events designed to engage and enrich the audience's experience in an original and inclusive way. Tomorrow at 10:30 a.m., the festival will debut with an activity dedicated to children, the storytelling and music show "Gioca Faber – Storie a manovella," created by artist Civi and inspired by a reinterpretation of De Andreiana's work by Aggese artist Simone Sanna. The event will take place within the Tempio Pausania inclusive park, thanks to the valuable collaboration of the Kairos social cooperative, which manages the space.
At 7:30 pm, a multisensory experience awaits the audience with the musical showcooking "Cucina di Scirocco e Maestrale," a collaboration between the Tempio Faber Festival and the GAL Alta Gallura. The show, inspired by De André's personal handwritten recipe book, will feature innovative chef Mario Sechi and refined jazz guitarist Alain Pattitoni combining flavors and melodies in a food and wine tale celebrating Gallura and Mediterranean traditions.
On Wednesday at 8:00 pm (Palazzo Pes Villamarina), there will also be a reading with the presentation of the book "Sardinia Noir" by Flavio Soriga, in conversation with journalist Giovanni Dessole. Then, on Sunday, as is tradition, the festival will immerse itself in nature, amid the silence and granite of Mount Limbara, with "L'indiano – musical trekking." This excursion, organized in collaboration with the environmental guides of the Raikes association, will lead participants to the evocative rock arch of Sa Pedra Suprappare, in the heart of Mount Limbara, departing at 9:00 am from the church of the Madonna della Neve.
The day will continue in the shade of the Vallicciola pine forest with the traditional "Farmer's Lunch," culminating in the grand finale with Angeli.
