“Butter” is the color of spring 2025: the butter yellow that Timothée Chalamet showed off at the Oscars continues to be a trend.

Its specific shade was created by Sarah Burton, the recently appointed creative director of Givenchy, and it was the protagonist of her debut autumn/winter 2025 collection: the yellow coat with a cinched waist and exaggerated shoulders is all over fashion magazines, as reported by Vogue UK. Burton is not alone: Toteme, leader of minimalism, presented an entirely monochromatic collection, dotted with scarf-dresses, blouses and shawls in a pale yellow shade, quite close to vanilla.

The color was also present throughout 16Arlington’s spring/summer 2025 collection, which offered arguably the coolest butterscotch look of the season : with jeans, a jacket, a clutch, and even a bra all done in the same shade.

And if you think yellow isn't your thing, the buttery shade is as easy to wear as any color in the beige family . The yellow dress is set to become a summer hit, as Chloé, Chanel, and Toteme have created floaty midis and maxis that are ideal for sun-kissed floors.

What color to pair pale yellow with? Some people opt (dare?) for a monoblock all in the same shade. If black with yellow creates a bumblebee effect, the butter shade, more belonging to the beige family, allows you to abandon all preconceptions about how to pair it. From Givenchy to Chanel, the association with black creates a super elegant effect. Katie Holmes followed the Zimmermann show, wearing a trench coat and pale butter pants, with a black t-shirt and a chocolate-colored leather bag.
Butter yellow also at Cos, Ami and Zara. And it is one of the soft and pastel fashion colors of Uniqlo lifewear for the spring wardrobe, from the pocket parka with UV protection technology and water-repellent finish effective against light rain to the wide-leg trousers of the U collection designed by co-artistic directors Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran.
