156 million euros, of which 107 were directly financed by the EU: this is the amount of development funds that Sardinia managed to use in 2025 , hitting the minimum spending target of 83 million, a necessary condition to avoid seeing its funding reduced by Brussels.

The target for social funding was also reached, with spending of 115 million euros in 2025, compared to a target of 100 million.

The Region announced the achievement of the milestone under the 2021-2027 ERDF Programme, having submitted the payment request to the European Commission on 16 December, certifying the overall expenditure. This secures all of the year's resources and avoids interruptions to already-planned interventions.

The certified expenditures, it is detailed, concern strategic interventions for the economic and social development of Sardinia. These include those related to business and competitiveness , with over €81 million to support productive investments, innovation, and the digital transition of SMEs. Other expenditures include those related to the digitalization of public services ; climate change adaptation; fire prevention interventions; schools; healthcare (with the technological modernization of hospital facilities and the purchase of new equipment); community welfare; and energy transition.

"Reaching the 2025 spending target is an excellent sign for the future ," commented Governor Alessandra Todde . "This is," Todde added, "an important figure." carrier that demonstrates the health of our third programming cycle and above all ensures that our economic and social fabric receives the resources necessary for development."

"Achieving and exceeding the spending target," says Giuseppe Meloni, Regional Councilor for Budget and Planning , "means ensuring that European resources remain entirely available to Sardinia and can continue to be transformed into real investments for businesses, public services, and local communities. In a complex context like the current one," Meloni adds, "demonstrating the ability to spend European funds wisely and promptly is far from a given . It is the result of serious, ongoing work that places institutional responsibility and the interests of citizens at the center."

Councillor for Labour Desirè Manca is also satisfied, as, as mentioned, Sardinia has also achieved and exceeded the 2025 target in implementing the 2021-2027 ESF+ Social Programme .

Specifically, total certified social spending in 2025 reached €115.8 million, compared to a target of €100.4 million. The largest portion of the resources was managed by the Directorate-General for Labor, which certified over €72.6 million, largely earmarked for supporting employment, businesses, and active labor market policies.

For Manca, "this result demonstrates that the Region has been able to spend European resources wisely and on time, transforming them into real opportunities for the region."
