A world championship for transplanted athletes, with Enrico Pitzalis, from Settimo San Pietro, an ever-increasing star. Two days ago, he won the bronze medal in tennis, demonstrating a remarkable display of technique and determination. In the final hours of Dresden, Germany, Enrico Pitzalis truly outdid himself by earning another bronze medal in the men's doubles tennis event alongside Piedmontese Davide Savian. Pitzalis then also won the silver medal in the mixed doubles tennis event with Claudia Graziani. A huge celebration ensued on the podium, with the Settimo San Pietro champion ecstatic, one of the standout performers of this world championship.

"I'm really satisfied," said Enrico Pitzalis. "In the mixed and men's doubles, I played alongside Savian and Graziani, and we were incredibly in tune. A success for all of us."

Another Settimo San Pietro transplant recipient, Paolo Perra, is attending the World Championships in Dresden, competing in tennis (singles), petanque, and bowling. "Enrico and Paolo," says Mayor Gigi Puddu, "once again send us extraordinary messages from Germany, not only with results on the field, but also, above all, reminding us how precious a donation is, one that can save the lives of so many. They are both transplant recipients. But they are stronger than ever."

Theirs is an extraordinary story: after their transplant, Paolo Perra and Enrico Pitzalis continued to play sports, participating in several national, European, and world competitions in various disciplines.

Before leaving for Dresden, the two athletes were welcomed at the Town Hall in Settimo San Pietro by Mayor Gigi Puddu and Councilors Stefano Atzori, Antonio Concu, and Nicoletta Pitzalis, Councilor for Social Services, wife of Paolo Perra and sister of Enrico Pitzalis.
