The Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti has signed the so-called “Saregna decree” which in the next few days, after completing his political-administrative path, will arrive on Prime Minister Mario Draghi's table.

"The news of the signing - explains in a note Samuele Piddiu, general secretary of the Sardinian CGIL - bodes well for the progress of the Sardinia decree which, far from being entirely acceptable, would unlock, even in the current version, a situation now stalled for too much time". In fact, the union hopes for the definitive go-ahead for the arrival of methane on the island and relaunches the need to start work on the southern section of the ridge already approved, pending authorizations for the northern section.

In short, Giorgetti did not accept the requests of the Region which instead hoped for a postponement of the signature. According to the CGIL "that infrastructure is strategic in Sardinia's energy transition path because it was designed to transport methane first and then synthesis gas and hydrogen, on which the union has long been urging investments and attention from the Region". For the latter, the CGIL spares no arrows: "The wait we have witnessed for months despite the continuous solicitations of the trade unions and then the sudden request not to proceed with the signing of the decree risk overwhelming every prospect of economic development and industry of the whole island which, from North to South, as can be seen from the territorial mobilizations already initiated by the trade unions, in Porto Torres as in Portovesme, suffers the devastating consequences of the crisis now aggravated by the international dynamics linked to the war in Ukraine ”. "We cannot attend inert the decline of our production systems which involves thousands of workers and families", concluded the secretary, launching a warning to the president of the Giunta because, "instead of addressing the problems of the Sardinians, he continues to procrastinate, turning away , with a political action now also plastered by the internal political issues of its majority ".
