Open and spontaneous smile, bright and curious eyes: the new face of the Democratic Party is dressed in pink, and it is immediately revolution. A gentle and at the same time courageous revolution which, due to its ideological novelty (or rather: for its renewed return to the origins of values), would seem to have succeeded in the intention of upsetting the schemes of internal power management, wiping out (perhaps) the calcifications of account holders held responsible for the decline of the Party.

Two pieces of evidence certainly leap to general attention, or rather three: the first, is that Elly (it is easy to hear her "close"), represents the very first woman , very young too, to lead the strongest formation of the entire opposition and of the left in all its ramified joints; the second is that Elly herself was able to attract around her figure that people of the left who had remained dormant up to that moment or waiting for a new "Messiah" who could lead the rebirth; the third is that Elly and her spontaneous simplicity constitute the personification of Giorgia's alter ego .

Two women in charge: the first of the oppositions, the second of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Two undisputed protagonists with a strong personality and unshakable determinism. This too is new: no longer a protagonist and an antagonist, but rather two prominent figures , probably two heroines, two complex interpreters of the Italian political landscape .

The circumstance will not fail to reserve us very interesting turning points, and we need to focus the "telescope" on them to understand how the management of the country Italy will unfold.

Elly takes over Enrico Letta's office even prevailing over Stefano Bonaccini (excellent administrator and unsurpassed guide with good likelihood in the government of the Emilia-Romagna Region), awarded instead in the conclave of the clubs. The doubt would seem to arise whether it was precisely this last circumstance that stirred the consciences of the voters: we will never know for sure, but the fact is that outside the centers of power it was the desire for change that prevailed .

The establishment of the Democratic Party, as well as that of all the Italian political parties, was leading to a process of slow and inexorable decline of all the formations which, up to a certain moment, and for very long years, seemed to have perched in the button rooms by locking themselves in double-locked. However, it would not be correct to define Elly in terms of anti-Meloni, almost as if to attribute to her an antagonistic role tending to relegate her to a level of subordination which, to tell the truth, would not seem to do her justice. Let's also say, and more simply, that between the two, there is a certain parallelism of intent , placing both one and the other on two parallel lines which, precisely because they never meet on an ideological level, would seem destined to clearly mark the political path over time.

Let's be clear however: because we are still on the level of the premises, and the beauty, precisely in terms of action and ability to intervene, is yet to come. For both, that is, both for Giorgia and for Elly. Both would seem to have prevailed , to say the least, due to the collective tiredness towards an old way of doing politics , towards an old way of managing power by the ruling classes of the opposing coalitions. And if Giorgia swept the policies of 25 September 2022, and still the last administrative ones of a regional nature, it would seem that she could have done so thanks to the very heavy abstention of the democratic people of the left.

All the more when Elly, conversely, would seem to have managed to prevail in the "singular duel", precisely because she was able to gather around her, recovering them, all the potential voters sympathetic to the Democratic Party who, despite every burning and previous disappointment, it would seem to have determined itself in the sense of wanting to express an attempt at change.

The strength of these women, even considering everything, is expressed in their ability to be the spokesperson for a specific and at the same time opposing political offer in which each individual can easily find his or her position. If with Giorgia you choose to stay on the right of government, with Elly you opt for the left of the origins . But let's be clear on the later: until today we have remained on the level of "ideas", because the problem arises immediately afterwards, when, pace of all, from fine words it is necessary to move on to concrete action , to deeds. The circumstance is not of little importance, on the contrary we will say that it is a matter of the whole, of the programmatic essential which today, both on one side and on the other, seems to be lacking.

Elly today covers what Giorgia's role was in previous government experiences: and you know, the opposition is certainly "simpler" due to its de-responsibility compared to government choices, which require continuous comparisons not only internally but above all on the external one of a community nature, to which, for better or for worse, it is necessary to conform.

Elly's " programmatic manifesto ", on a terminological level, would seem to begin to take shape, articulating itself, to begin with, in contrasting precariousness , in order to favor the affirmation of mechanisms tending to enhance its quality also through the introduction of the so-called minimum ”, to continue the fight against inequalities by bringing the inalienable rights of the human person to the fore, to end up with the duty to face and resolve the critical climate issue. No question.

But are we sure that these themes, albeit with different recipes, are so distant from Giorgia's political offer? What if it was just a question of finding an initial point of dialogue to share solutions?

These are not obvious questions because, thinking about it, if having found, and we will say finally, clear ideological positions certainly represents an added value, likewise, it would also be useful to avoid that the sharpness of the opposition , although firm in its essential lines , manifests itself in its negative connotation of sterile opposition regardless. Giorgia and Elly find themselves today to be two sides of the same coin , and we need both. Elly has openly declared that she wants to "be a big problem for the Meloni government", promising to build an "opposition in parliament and in the country in defense of that Italy which is struggling the most".

Giorgia, for her part, correctly declared that she hoped that "the election of a young woman" at the head of the Democratic Party could support the left in " looking forward and not backwards ". We just have to stay at the window.
