Educational poverty and early school leaving: Sassari among the three Italian cities chosen by Save the Children

Involve institutions, schools, the third sector and the community to combat educational poverty and early school leaving , which affects 12% of girls and boys in Sardinia . The objectives and results of the Territorial Plan started in 2018 thanks to the work of Save The Children 's Futuro Prossimo, a project selected by the social enterprise with children, were presented this morning in Sassari , in the premises of the Municipal Department of Culture.
Sassari is one of the three locations chosen in Italy to act as a pilot project. The other two are the Chiaiano district of Naples and Marghera, in the municipality of Venice.
In the city we worked on three areas : extracurricular educational offer with art, culture and sport (the collaboration with Uisp is important); environments and spaces to be enhanced ; school, teaching and territory . The educational community of Latte Dolce was created, one of the most popular and densely populated neighborhoods, made up of 45 territorial realities including institutions, schools and associations, which have given rise to training courses, excursions, capacity building paths and individualized paths, in addition to setting up a neighborhood library.
As pointed out by Giusy Ghisu , local coordinator of Futuro Prossimo, "the Territorial Plan is only the beginning, the model of collaboration works and we must continue with the activities of the educating community to create a better future for our young people".
