Porto Torres is the first Municipality to close the agreement with the North Flag Coastal Action Group , together to intercept funding to support the economy of the sea, protect the environment and build the infrastructures expected by the local navy .

The agreement signed by the Turritan municipality together with the local development agency made up of representatives of the fishing sector, public entities and private entities of the coastal area that goes from Bosa to San Teodoro was presented today.

The first objective of this collaboration will be to present projects supported by European funds such as Feampa (European Fund for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture) and cross-border programmes .

The agreement was presented to journalists by the mayor Massimo Mulas and the president of the Flag Nord Benedetto Sechi . The mayor underlined how the agency can make the skills and experience gained in the field of local development available to the Municipality: «This collaboration is the result of a long and stimulating discussion. We are very satisfied because now the possibility of presenting projects on this subject becomes concrete. It is a historic moment in which only by joining forces and building broad partnerships is it possible to give answers to structural problems". President Benedetto Sechi explained the philosophy that is guiding the agency: «The Flag is the last body of public law with supra-municipal value, and for this reason it assumes a crucial role in planning and relaunching the economy . It is a reality that has a very high certified spending capacity and that has created a structured network of relationships with institutional and productive realities».

The one presented today is the first agreement of its kind between Flag Nord and a single municipality. This is a collaboration that may be open to other local authorities in the area , in particular to the Municipalities of the Sassari underground network.
