Fresh air, sun, sea or countryside. The perfect mix of holidays is in Sardinia and there are many, many to take advantage of it. Over the Easter weekend alone, over 100,000 tourists are expected, attracted by the natural beauties, the open spaces and the historical-archaeological attractions of an island that has become, almost unexpectedly, a paradise for post-pandemic vacationers.

Success

"We are close to full house", says with satisfaction Michelina Mulas, regional leader of the farms of Terranostra-Coldiretti. "An almost unexpected boom that caught us off guard, but it can only please us because it confirms how much outdoor tourism is gaining more and more success after two difficult years spent between quarantines and lockdowns".

«The market has changed - says Mulas - and those who choose the farm, for example, do so because they want to live an adventure immersed in the uncontaminated environment. He wants to drink and eat well, but also to spend a day among the animals on the farm, discovering the culture and attractions of the territory that hosts him ».

Marching

Giampiero Pinna can only polish his eyes seeing dozens of people every day walking the paths of the Santa Barbara mining trail, the path that 12 years ago he drew in the heart of Sulcis in the hope of representing a valid alternative to the more popular path of Santiago del Compostela for hikers from all over Europe.

"The bet for now can be said to be won - says Pinna - also because we have managed to enhance a territory famous for the darkness of the mines by displaying the light of nature". The stages of the journey are full of hikers and many more are expected in the coming days.

Frozen prices

The island's campsites also breathe the air of optimism. The numbers of the Easter weekend mirror those recorded in 2019, the last year free from the virus. "Reservations give us hope - confirms Nicola Napolitano, regional president of Faita, the federation that brings together camp site managers - holidays in contact with nature are increasingly popular and we are trying to meet the needs of tourists who, although they love Sardinia, they have to contend with very high prices for ferries ».

The Island in the shop window

There is no shortage of alternatives to enjoy Easter between secular feasts and religious rites. The latter will be re-proposed to the public throughout the island after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic. Everywhere there is great expectation: from Cagliari to Castelsardo, passing through Iglesias, Bortigali, Bosa, Desulo, Dorgali, Laconi, Mamoiada, Oliena, Cuglieri, Santu Lussurgiu, Santa Giusta and Alghero.
