Out of 22,603 cases presented in Sardinia for the restoration of damage in the agricultural sector caused by the 2017 drought, only 5,567 were liquidated by Argea and Laore . The amount disbursed was 14.5 million euros .

The numbers emerged during the session this afternoon of the "Productive Activities" Commission which heard the Councilor for Agriculture Gabriella Murgia and the leaders of Argea and Laore.

The practices rejected were more than 73 per cent of the total as they were considered ineligible, ineligible or in liquidation.

Of the more than 16 thousand rejected applications, 10,903 were excluded because they were presented by companies already beneficiaries of the support measure of Law 20 of 2017 which allocated 13 euros each for the sheep and goat sector. Others were rejected because they arrived after the deadline or presented for more calamitous events . This latter aspect has flooded the system and lengthened the investigation times.

These data were illustrated by Mimmo Solina , extraordinary commissioner of Laore, and by Antonello Arghittu , general manager of Argea, after protests by agricultural organizations on the delays accumulated by the agencies in the payment of compensation for the 2017 drought.

"In reality - said the commissioner Murgia - about 150 cases remain to be liquidated. The structures of the agencies have done an exceptional job in dealing with over 22 thousand applications".

But the report of the agencies was contested by the opposition councilor Gianfranco Satta (Progressives): "This is the first time this data has been presented to us, it worries such a large amount of questions deemed inadmissible". President Maieli , at the end of the hearing, ordered the transmission of the report to the agricultural associations: "The time has come to think about certain data - he said - in this way it will be possible to identify a path to simplify the procedures for requesting indemnities ".
