The nutritionist explains the link between nutrition and mental well-being.
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the link between nutrition and mental health. While we are increasingly aware of the importance of a balanced diet for the prevention of physical diseases, the effects of nutrition on our mood and psychological health are equally crucial. Nutrition not only nourishes the body, but also the mind, directly influencing the production of neurotransmitters and the response to stress.
Certain nutrients in particular, such as omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, vitamin D, and minerals like magnesium, are essential for a healthy brain. Certain food sources such as nuts, legumes, and green leafy vegetables have long been linked to reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, while a diet rich in fiber, probiotics, and prebiotics can improve gut health and, in turn, support a healthier mind by promoting and improving the gut-brain axis.
