Here's the long-awaited point guard. Not a combo guard, a handler, or a point guard, but a playmaker, at least according to sporting director Mauro Sartori's assessment of American Desure Buie: "Desure is a player with an above-average basketball mind, a true floor general, capable of leading the team like a captain on the court. He has a high basketball IQ, knows how to command respect and dictate the pace, is an excellent pick-and-roll player, and isn't afraid to attack the rim. He's always stood out for his intelligence, his ability to read situations, and his ability to properly involve his teammates."
The 28-year-old Bronx native spent last season in Lithuania with Neptunas Klaipeda, where he produced 14 points on 38% three-pointers and dished out 6 assists, demonstrating his aptitude for passing. At Dinamo, he reunites with guard Nate Johnson, which fosters rapport in a team that has undergone ten changes.
The new white-and-blue player is playing his fifth European stint, following previous experiences in Slovakia, Turkey, Germany, and Lithuania: "The conversation with the coach instilled confidence and conviction in me: it was easy to say yes. On a personal level, my goal is to give the best version of myself every night, achieve some individual goals, and show those who follow the league who I really am. As for the team, we want to aim high and go as far as possible in the league, too. Playing in Italy, in a team like Sassari, represents the perfect opportunity for me to make my mark."
