Differentiated autonomy, Fontana against Todde: «Squalid battle». The reply: «We will not accept the cuts»

The governor of Lombardy, Attilio Fontana, attacks his Sardinian colleague Alessandra Todde. The fact that five regional councils of regions led by the centre-left (Sardinia in the lead, then Puglia, Campania, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany) have started the process of requesting a referendum against autonomy «is a very curious thing, but this is part of the 'inconsistency with which the left and the 5 Stars are carrying out this battle which is not a battle of ideals, values and principles but only and squalidly a political battle to try to obtain some miserable consensus".
Fontana spoke on the sidelines of a press conference at the Pirellone: «Go ahead», he added, «I'm curious how the president of Sardinia Alessandra Todde will justify the choice to her voters, who enjoys a special autonomy that is much more of what we are going to ask for and which instead believes that it is not compatible with other Regions that want to ask for it".
In the evening the response from the President of the Region arrived: «Fontana's words? They qualify themselves. If he really thinks he is scaring us by using personal attacks or trying to discredit the work of 5 Regions and all the coordination against Differentiated Autonomy, he is greatly mistaken. Countering those who try to water down the specialty of Sardinia by taking away its resources", claims Todde, "does not serve to seek consensus, but is a clear and clear stance against a reform that creates confusion, divides the country, impoverishes the South, the Islands and mocks the North. Fontana shouldn't worry about the Sardinians and stop trying to give lessons: we will never accept a reform that weakens us by taking away essential resources from Sardinia."
