Dido , the queen of Carthage, daughter of Belus and wife of Sichaeus. Legends and myths of a character Virgil tells about, themes that will be at the center of the eleventh meeting of the series of conferences "A thousand and one museums" , scheduled for Thursday 25 May , at 5 pm, at the Antiquarium Turritano national archaeological museum in Porto Torres .

It will be Sergio Ribichini of Saic, the Italian Archaeological School of Carthage, who will dialogue with the official of the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage of Rome, the archaeologist of the Capitoline Museums, Francesca Ceci , who will present a speech entitled: “Dido without Aeneas. The True Story of the Queen of Carthage".

The event, organized by the Regional Directorate of Museums of Sardinia with the University of Sassari, curated by Luana Toniolo and Professor Paola Ruggeri, deals with the theme of the most ancient legend which narrates the escape of Dido from Tire after the death of her father and the her husband was killed by her brother Pygmalion.

Dido then arrives on the coast of Africa where he founds the city of Carthage. Virgil attributes Dido's suicide to love for the Trojan hero Aeneas.
