Bruce Willis suffers from a form of dementia.

This was revealed by his ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, in a post published on Instagram. The 67-year-old Hollywood star gave up acting a year ago due to growing cognitive difficulties .

Since we announced the diagnosis of aphasia in 2022, Bruce's condition has progressively worsened and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia,” reads the post. “Unfortunately, communication difficulties are just a symptom of Bruce's disease. This is painful, but it is also a relief to now have a clear diagnosis," explained the interpreter's family in a statement published on the website of the US association that deals with this disease.

Aphasia, which was the initial diagnosis, is a syndrome that makes speech and language comprehension difficult. Frontotemporal dementia – also widespread among patients under the age of 60 – is caused by the progressive deterioration of neurons in specific areas of the Central Nervous System and manifests itself with behavioral and communication disorders. There is currently no cure to treat it.
